Fleishman-Hillard Vanguard was selected as the Agency providing informational and PR-support of the largest international cycling race Five Rings of Moscow which took place on May 6-10.

The international cycling race Five Rings of Moscow is the largest competition in cycling which traditionally happens in Moscow in May. Competition is supported by the Union de Cyclist Internacionale (UCI), which appropriated class 2.2. to the race — corresponding to the leading bicycle races of the European level. The organizer of the race is a public organization Russian Cycling Federation supported by the Government of Moscow.

Five Rings of Moscow is one of the oldest cycling events after the famous Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Paris—Roubaix. It continues the tradition of races on the Garden ring. For the first time such race took place back in 1920, and consisted only of one stage — The Garden Ring. The first race held 90 years ago in Moscow, became a real historical event. 87 cyclists participated in it, and Grigoriy Kozlov from Moscow became the winner. Since 1992 Five Rings of Moscow has a format of a 5 day race.

Sportsmen from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Serbia, Israel, Belarus and Kazakhstan took part in the race. Among the leaders are the teams of Continental Tour: Ukrainian ISD-Donetsk, the debuting Serbian team Partizan, and, of course, the Russian Katyusha, which won Five Rings of Moscow in the past two years.

Agency scope of work included the organization of the press centre of competitions, searching of informational sponsors, and organization of work of journalists at all stages, preparation of messages for mass-media, photo reports following the results of each stage of the race, etc. The agency managed to engage the main Russian daily sports newspaper “Sport-Express” and weekly journal “SportWeek” as informational sponsors. All main television channels, radio stations, print and online media, as well as Internet communities of cycling fans were invited to see the race.

«One of the basic directions of work of Russian Cycling Federation is the development and popularization of cycling in the country. This objective is impossible to achieve without substantial informational support for the largest cycling competitions in Russia supported by UCI which will be organized by the Federation. Certainly, we realise that we now lag behind Europe in terms of informational support of the races on highway - cycling is one of the most popular sports there both for the audience and for sponsors. But we are sure that we should move in this direction» - notes vice-president of the Federation Yuri Kucheryaviy.
